Kino Mausoleum

EspaƱol

Magdalena is named after a phenomenal Italian Jesuit missionary, Padre Francisco Eusebio Kino, who established a number of mission churches in what is now northern Mexico and southern Arizona.

Father Kino, who lived from 1645 to 1711, was a multi-talented individual, with interests in cartography, astronomy, ranching, and exploration. His remains were discovered near the city plaza in the 1970's, and are on display in this mausoleum.
